The tendency to obesity in the sperm is transferred.

The sperm of obese parents is a carrier of a molecular signal that transfers to their offspring inherit the tendency to be overweight, say scientists from the Center for Reproductive Health Research at the University of Adelaide (Australia), who examined the expression of micro-RNA in sperm.

The researchers said further that the effect of obesity in the offspring is more marked in women than in men.
